How to
install Angel Eyes Fog-Lights on your Honda
del Sol
Overall this installation is
very straight forward and requires no
special knowledge to complete. I have
personally completed this
install in far under an hour, however I've
done it several times. This "How-To" is a
basic compilation of that
knowledge so your install will go easily and
your results will be what you wanted.
STEP ONE (disconnect the
negative terminal of your battery)
Basic Automotive sense says
to disconnect the negative terminal of your
battery before working on any part of your
car that includes electricity.
That means these! Just loosen the nut on the
connector for the Negative terminal and pull
it free of the battery. Important
Note:
(If you still have your
factory Honda radio and it's equipped with
an Anti-Theft password, make sure you know
what it is! Disconnecting the
power to your vehicle will arm it.)
STEP TWO (Remove the front
bumper)
In order to get to the
factory fog light location you will need to
remove the front bumper. At the front of
the bumper (where the front tip of the hood
sits when it's closed) there are 7 Philips
Screw/Bolts that need to be
removed. Take them all out and set them in a
safe place to keep from losing them. After
the Screws/Bolts are out the
black metal retainer that was held down by
the bolts can be removed. Put it to the side
as well.
Next there are a couple
small bolts that connect the bottom of the
bumper to the car. (I think they're 10mm
bolts). Simply unscrew these and
set them safely aside.
Finally there
are two more screws to remove, but they are
hidden. There is one at each of the back
corners of the bumper. They
connect the bumper to the fenders. If your
wheel well cover is still intact you'll need
to take a couple of the plastic
screws out and pull it slightly to the side
to get to them. (don't lose your wheel well
screws!) Unscrew them and set
them aside.
So we removed:
7 Screws Bolts at the top
front of the bumper and the Retainer that
they were holding down. 2 Bolts under the
bumper 2 Hidden Screws/Bolts at the back
corners of the bumper (connecting the bumper
to the fenders)
At this point the
bumper is ready to be removed! Just pull it
lightly from the front and set it to the
side.
STEP THREE (remove the
factory foglights)
Carefully unplug the wiring
harness at the back of each of the foglights
(you may find it easier to do this after
unscrewing the brackets.
There are only 3 bolts connecting each
foglight bracket to the front bumper
support. Pull the entire assembly away and
set it to the side. (you wont
need them any longer).
STEP FOUR (Test Mounting)
Important Note: This phase of
the install will determine how your final
project turns out! Take your time!
Take the Fog lights out of the package (the
included bracket should be attached) Take
the new lights out of their
Place both of them in
the stock fog-light locations
and "TEST FIT" the front bumper by placing
it back over the lights. They should sit
just far enough forward to look like this
from above:

Because the fog lights are not yet
bolted down they will move freely. Take your
time adjusting each one until it sits how
you would like it to when the
project is completed. Carefully hold the
light down and remove bumper (it's best to
have someone else remove the
bumper while you hold the light where you
want it.) When the bumper is gone (and
you're SURE the fog light is
still where you want it) take a pencil and
make a mark through the screw holes in the
fog-light mounting bracket. I
recommend doing this one at a time for each
light.
Take a drill with a bit just a
little smaller than the screws you want to
use and drill out the holes that you marked
on the front bumper support.
Personally I only drill out ONE hole for
each light. That allows you to adjust the
light just a little more after
you've put the bumper back on (the bumper
will hold them firmly in place and keep them
from shifting).
Take the your new fog
lights and remove them from their small
brackets (one philips screw on each side).
Secure the brackets to the bumper support
using a screw in each of the holes you just
drilled. Then re-attach the new
fog lights to their brackets.
Test fit the bumper again to ensure that the
lights are indeed where you want them to
sit. If not make adjustments and
re-secure the lights.
Here's some pics of the lights installed in
the correct location - hopefully this will
help you guys when you're installing them
yourselves.

STEP FIVE (Wiring)
The wiring harness that comes
with your lights has a LOT of wires. Lets
get them sorted out.
There are two
clumps of wires. The first one has the
connectors that hook directly into the fog
lights. These are color coded so
just match up the colors, plug them together
and you're done with that half.
The
second set of wires connects to the first.
Plug them in together to create one long
strand.
The second set of wires has
just a couple wires that you need to hook
up. LARGE RED WIRE WITH FUSE IN LINE:
Connect this directly to your battery
terminal.
YELLOW WIRE: (gives the
juice to your Angel Eyes) Cut off the end of
this and expose some of the wire. Remove
your front right corner light
and disconnect the wiring harness that runs
to the OEM corner light. You can simply
insert the exposed end of the
white wire into the socket that connects to
the Stripped RED wire on the wiring harness
for the OEM corner lights and
plug the corner light back in.
WHITE
WIRE: Cut off the end of this wire and
expose some of the wire. This wire will need
to be tapped into the original
power for your OEM Fog Lights. The power for
the OEM fog lights runs through a red
stripped wire on the original Fog
Light Wiring Harness. Cut that
wire and connect the WHITE wire using
Electrical Tape(worst), Crimps (better) or
Solder (best).
The extra
RED wire from the second clump of wires
doesn't need to be connected to anything.
Just cut off the end of it so it
doesn't ground out on anything.
RELAY: There's a small little black box that
came with your lights. Just plug that in and
you're done with the wiring.
(Note:
You do not need to use the small switch that
comes with these lights. Connecting the
Angels Eyes in the way shown
above will allow them to work like the
factory intended.)
At this point you
can test out the lights to make sure they're
working. Remember, the Angel Eyes will come
on with the Parking Lights and
the Fog Lights will activate exactly like
your OEM ones. If you have any problems go
back over your wiring and check
the connections. Feel free to hide the wires
and zip ties them out of the way.
STEP SIX (Putting it all back
together)
Basically you
just need to re-attach your bumper at this
point. Follow the directions for removing
the bumper, but go in the
opposite direction.
Now you're done!
UPDATE:
Several customer have
reported that their lights point too far UP
when installed. This is usually due to
installing them too far forward on the
bumper support. Here's a couple more pics
that should help you guys in the placement
of the lamps.
